JP helped us with flooring throughout our whole house. From helping us with estimates, picking out flooring and making sure we had prompt, excellent installation. JP even stayed in contact with the painter and coordinated with them so we didn't have to worry about anything. The floors came out amazing and now we are working with owners, Chad and Taylor for our Window coverings.

Carpet for Bedrooms: Why Plush Wins, What Underfoot Feel Really Costs

Bedrooms are the one room where carpet's softest, deepest construction makes the most sense. Foot traffic is low (a few trips a day, in bare feet or socks), spills are rare, and the priorities flip from durability to feel, warmth, and acoustic quiet. That is why cut-pile constructions dominate the bedroom category: plush, Saxony, and textured cut pile all sit in the bedroom carpet conversation, while the loop and high-twist constructions that excel on stairs and in family rooms (Berber and frieze) are usually overkill for a primary or guest bedroom. The bedroom carpet you walk on barefoot in the morning is a very different product from the carpet that has to survive a hallway.

Fiber choice for bedrooms is mostly about hand-feel and color depth, since traffic resilience matters less here than anywhere else carpet goes in the home. Polyester (often sold under brand names like SmartStrand or PureColor) gives the softest hand at a moderate price, with strong stain resistance from solution-dyed yarns. Nylon costs more and is the longer-wearing fiber, which matters in bedrooms shared with pets or used as home offices. Wool, the original premium fiber, brings unmatched feel and natural lanolin-based stain resistance and is still the right answer for high-end primary bedrooms when the budget allows. Pile height for bedroom plush typically runs between 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch, with face weights from 40 to 70 ounces per square yard; higher face weight feels deeper underfoot but does not necessarily wear longer (density matters more than thickness). Twist count in bedroom cut pile can be lower than in stair carpet (three or four turns per inch is acceptable) because the carpet is not asked to resist constant crushing. Acoustic performance is the bedroom carpet's quiet superpower: a 1/2-inch cut pile over a 7/16-inch rebond pad cuts impact noise transmission to rooms below by a wide margin compared to hard surfaces, which is why second-floor bedrooms in two-story Amador County homes almost universally end up carpeted. Hypoallergenic claims are common on bedroom carpets, and the honest version of the story is this: a clean, regularly vacuumed cut-pile carpet traps allergens at the surface and holds them there until vacuumed away, which is actually better than a hard floor that lets the same particles circulate. Solution-dyed fibers and low-VOC adhesives (look for CRI Green Label Plus) help further in allergy-sensitive bedrooms.
