From the showroom we drive Highway 49 north through Plymouth to the town of El Dorado, then Mother Lode Drive west into Shingle Springs, or Highway 49 to Highway 50 and the Ponderosa Road exit for addresses north of the freeway. Either way it is about 30 miles and 40 minutes.
Shingle Springs is acreage country. Homes sit on one to five acres along Mother Lode Drive, French Creek Road and the roads south of Highway 50, with long gravel driveways, horses, dogs and red dirt that follows all three inside. A floor here has to take grit at the door and still look like the house you picked out of the trees.

Homes in Shingle Springs
Most Shingle Springs houses are custom or semi-custom homes from the 1970s through the 1990s, built one at a time on large lots.
