What an installed price includes
The material price is the plank alone, by the square foot. The installed price adds the underlayment where the product needs one, floor prep, cutting and fitting, transitions, quarter-round or baseboard work, and the labor for all of it. Barron's estimates are installed prices, so the number on your estimate is the one you plan around.
Two things move an installed price more than the plank itself. The first is prep: a floor that needs leveling compound, a section of subfloor replaced, or old tile ground flat costs more than a clean plywood deck. The second is stairs, which are priced per step because each tread is fitted and finished on its own.

Why luxury vinyl plank fits Cameron Park houses
The single-story ranch homes around Cameron Park Country Club and the airpark were built on plywood over crawlspaces, and those subfloors are typically still flat and sound. That is the ideal base for a floating rigid-core plank, and it keeps the estimate focused on plank and labor with little or no prep.
